Service Description
Welcome to The Women's Circle - a thoughtful, supportive space dedicated to exploring global perspectives and uncovering richer, more diverse understandings of faith beyond traditional American evangelical narratives. About Our Journey: From April through September, we'll gather monthly to read and discuss powerful books that invite us to listen to voices often marginalized within mainstream evangelical contexts. Together, we'll cultivate deeper spiritual awareness, empathy, and a genuinely global sense of belonging within the Church Universal. Books We'll Explore: May - Womanist Midrash, Vol. 1 by Wilda C. Gafney Explore Scripture through the insightful, justice-oriented lens of Womanist theology, challenging us to rethink deeply-held assumptions about women's roles and spiritual authority. June - Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul by John Philip Newell Reconnect with a spirituality that honors creation and invites women into a deeper awareness of interconnectedness, reverence, and ecological responsibility. July - Rescuing the Gospel from the Cowboys by Richard Twiss Examine the powerful intersection of Native American spirituality and Christianity, helping us identify and deconstruct the colonial influences still lingering within our faith. August - In Search of Christ in Latin America by Samuel Escobar Journey alongside Latin American believers, embracing diverse expressions of Christian faith shaped by liberation, community, and courageous social transformation. September - Reading Jeremiah in Africa by Bungishabaku Katho Engage Scripture from the African context, discovering fresh interpretations that speak powerfully to perseverance, hope, and justice amid struggle and adversity. How the Circle Meets: Gatherings occur online via Zoom on the last Sunday of each month 7 - 8:30 PM CST (e.g., the first meeting is April 27th). Our initial session will be to introduce ourselves, set expectations, and lay the groundwork for the next few months. At each subsequent meetup, we'll discuss the book for that month. Each book will be paired with an insightful reflection guide designed to deepen your reading and enrich our discussions. We’ll also be able to connect daily on a dedicated Discord discussion board, fostering ongoing conversation and mutual encouragement. Join The Women's Circle and expand your spiritual horizons, growing in understanding, compassion, and global awareness within a supportive community of women seeking deeper, transformative faith.

During your cohort's first call, we'll ask everyone to share their name, the state/nation they live in, and what primary emotion you're feeling going into this. Then, we will spend about 15-20 minutes going over the boundaries and expectations for the cohort. While those boundaries and expectations are not "hard," they will be held, and if The Deconstruction Doula determines that an individual's behavior in the cohort or toward other cohort participants has rendered the cohort unsafe, the participant will be removed without a refund.
